The American Civil War, War Between the States, War of Northern Aggression - whatever you prefer to call it, began today, one-hundred fifty-one years ago.
"We think that we are a wholly superior people. If we'd been anything like as superior as we think we are, we would not have fought that war." ~ Shelby Foote
My daddy once said, during the midst of a political race for county sheriff, "you can't sling mud without getting some on yourself." War must be like that - you can't clearly win without inflicting wounds upon yourself, your friends, and your country.
You'll see that decades after the war ended, those that fought the battles may have realized that same concept.
