Ok so they're hard to see on here, but every dot on the map is what we call a "contact"...someone somewhere in the world that is a licensed amateur radio operator - that I have communicated with. All using less energy than a 100w light bulb. It's quite amazing actually, to be able to take electricity from a battery, wall outlet, or generator and convert it into some kind of electro-magnetic phenomena that causes the electrons on some guy's wire antenna hundreds or thousands of miles away to vibrate. If you look close, you can see blue dots in Japan, Russia, all over Europe, two just off the coast of Africa, and a few in South and Central America. Not to mention the dozens and dozens in North America.
Why post this? I have no clue. I was just looking at the map that my logging software generates and decided to show it off. Yippie! (note: you should be able to click on the map to zoom in to full-size.)
But I can do the same with a cell phone or email"...yeah, but that depends on power at the cell site or your ISP's home base, not to mention your own spot on the map. Just ask the people on the coast, or up in Kentucky, or even northwest Mississippi who remember 1994!
Just a rambling post......later folks.
