Astronauts and Boy Scouts
I captured this audio today as the International Space Station flew over and the astronauts were conducting a scheduled on-the-air visit with the 2010 Boy Scout Jamboree being held in Virginia. The astronauts and the scouts were talking via amateur radio while Mini-Me and I listened in. It was a thrill for him to hear Col. Doug Wheelock speaking from 230 miles high, but could you imagine the thrill for a young Boy Scout attending a summer camp to actually get to ask the astronauts a question? While we couldn't hear the scouts ask their questions, I could just imagine the excitement in their hearts. I haven't looked it up, but I'd be willing to bet that at least one of the ISS crew members was a scout in their youth, and to pass that dream along to another future astronaut was just plain cool to listen to.
